NYX was established in 1996, as one of Istanbul’s premier night-clubs and restaurants, in what used to be a decrepit old warehouse in a most unlikely location of the city.

In collaboration with Yuksel Insaat and MEKSA, I was fully responsible for the concept, design and operations of the whole project. It was, in essence, my brainchild as I had just returned from France and was keen to adapt my experiences to delivering a night spot that would become THE place to be at – hot, sexy, and where a star studded celebrity crowd was always ever present. With a world class line-up of resident DJ’s every night, and plenty of international names playing regularly, NYX always guaranteed the best music with the best atmosphere.

NYX became ever so popular with the night crowds that the summer following it’s opening, we developed and launched off shoot projects with Metin Fadillioglu, of 29 Group, under the NYX-29 brand at Cubuklu, an established summer destination of Istanbul. This summer project operated during the day as a water front lounge with a pool, and at night as a full blown club/restaurant.

As NYX evolved the following summer, we set out to establish NYX Kurucesme (today it is the location and property of well known night-club, Reina) and due to late contracts, unexpected delays in construction, as well as my military obligations, the club enjoyed a late and incomplete start and I ended up having to move to New York, New York …
